While Asthma is not yet a curable disease it has been proven to be a controllable disease. Moderate exercise (such as walking) has been shown to have many beneficial effects for asthma sufferers by increasing their quality of life and possibly reducing their need of medication.

Asthma Effects of Walking

One benefit to using a treadmill desk is that individuals with asthma are able to walk at slow speed while they work. They are better able to control the temperature and air quality in their work environment as well. This is critical for many since outside air contaminants can trigger an attack.

Moderate exercise such as walking can stretch the lungs and bronchial tubes and assist in the resistance to breathing suffered by asthmatics. Additionally, daily walking burns fat and prevents obesity a factor which can add to the challenges faced by individuals with asthma.
